@Women Paying It Forward SA
I AM BECAUSE WE ARE
Women Paying It Forward South Africa is a non-governmental organisation established in 2019 by a group of women with a shared love and passion for the advancement and empowerment of young people and specifically young women from previously disadvantaged communities and families falling in the unfortunate ‘missing middle’ group especially now due to the pandemic
There is a well-known African Proverb that says I AM BECAUSE WE ARE and this has been an integral part of history and culture. #WPIF_SA was birthed from this concept and the realization of the importance of paying it forward to ensure that others too can benefit from this concept that has helped shaped the lives of so many people. Women Paying It Forward South Africa is a non-governmental organisation established in 2019 by a group of women with a shared love and passion for the advancement and empowerment of young people and specifically young women from previously disadvantaged communities and families falling in the unfortunate ‘missing middle’ group especially now due to the pandemic.
It creates a platform for women to mentor young women about matters impacting our lives in society, through meaningful conversations. The intent is to empower young women to make better informed decisions whilst creating a culture of paying back to society.
We’ve all benefited from someone giving us a break, taking time out to acknowledge talents and potential and inspiring in some way. Without these experiences and people we would not be where we are today. At #WPIF_SA our focus is to continue the culture of paying it forward and leaving a legacy.

Mentorship helps individuals bridge the gap between theory, knowledge, and practice.
The leadership dialogue that mentors will facilitate will ensure that the young leaders complete the programme activities, but more specifically are able to implement knowledge in a practical, participate in community assignments, and ultimately deepen their own self-leadership ability.

On 9 August 2021, WPIF_SA successfully launched “The Comfort Closet”.
Comfort closet is about making sure that young children and youth have toiletries when things are challenging at home. Even if they do not have toiletries at home, they know once they get to school, they will be able to have access to necessary supplies without feeling ashamed or discriminated against as every product will be issued under strict confidentiality. The comfort closet aims to make young people feel good about themselves, regardless of their circumstances at home. They will be confident in knowing that they will have access to toothpaste, a toothbrush, deodorant, pads etc.
We would like to ensure that regardless of the situation at home, young children will be able to access toiletries to make themselves feel good about themselves and to ensure the success of the WPIF_SA mentorship programme
