MY STORY.

Every meaningful journey starts with the

courage to take the first step.

Mine began with one application,

one setback and one decision not to give up.

WHY I CHOSE THIS JOURNEY.

"Every dream starts with someone who simply dares to believe."

I chose to embark on this journey because I know what it feels like to doubt yourself.

For a long time, I believed that leadership belonged to the loudest voices in the room. As someone who is naturally quiet, observant, and intentional, I often questioned whether I was enough.

I want to represent the idea that leadership does not always look loud or outwardly dominant. Sometimes, it looks like resilience, growth, and quiet determination.

I want students to know that their personality,

their background, or their self-doubt does not disqualify them from achieving

their goals.

I want to be a Miss UJ who is accessible and

present. Someone students feel they can connect with. Even with the crown, I remain human, someone they can relate to,

draw strength from, and see themselves in.

I am not separate from the students that I represent.

I am one of them.

MY ADVOCACY.

 Justice Beyond the Courtroom

My advocacy is centred on constitutional literacy and making legal and civic information accessible, understandable, and empowering for young people and communities.

Residence Mentor and Faculty of Law Peer Mentor.

My Mentorship Journey

Serving as both a Residence Mentor and Faculty Peer Mentor has shown me that leadership is rooted in service. These roles have allowed me to support students beyond academics, helping them navigate university life, build confidence, and find a sense of belonging.

Served under the Community Engagement pillar.

Mentorship has taught me the value of listening with empathy, leading with integrity, and creating spaces where others feel supported and empowered. It has reinforced my belief that meaningful leadership is not measured by the position you hold, but by the lives you positively impact.

Miss UJ APK Bootcamp Week.

Bootcamp Week was an unforgettable experience that challenged me to grow, lead, and embrace every opportunity to learn. Each session offered valuable insights that strengthened my confidence and broadened my perspective on leadership.

I am sincerely grateful to the guest speakers for sharing their knowledge, experiences, and words of encouragement. Their stories reminded me that authentic leadership is built on purpose, resilience, and service.

My heartfelt appreciation also goes to the Miss UJ APK Executive Committee for their dedication, planning, and commitment to creating such a meaningful experience. Your guidance, mentorship, and investment in every finalist made Bootcamp Week both inspiring and impactful.

↓ Discover Why These Rights Matter.

At the heart of my advocacy are six constitutional rights. I chose them because I believe they speak to what it means to be human.

As someone who is naturally observant, I’ve always paid attention to the way people move through the world and the experiences they carry. I’ve realised that many of us can identify moments where we have felt disrespected, unsafe, discriminated against, pressured, or powerless, but we don’t always have the language to understand what is happening to us.

That is why constitutional literacy matters to me.

The 6 Constitutional Rights.

Human Dignity.

Because Your Worth Is Inherent.

Everyone deserves to know that their dignity is not something they have to earn. Every person deserves to be treated with respect simply because they are human.

Equality

Because everyone deserves to belong.

No one should ever feel that they matter less because of who they are. Equality reminds us that every individual is entitled to the same respect, protection, and opportunities.

Freedom and Security of the

Because everyone deserves to feel safe.

No one should have to live in fear, violence, coercion, or abuse. Safety is not a privilege, it is a constitutional right.

Bodily Integrity

Because your body belongs to you.

Every person has the right to autonomy, informed consent, and the freedom to make decisions about their own body without pressure or coercion.

Children’s rights

Because every child deserves protection.

Children should grow up knowing that they have rights, that they deserve to be safe, and that their voices matter.

Access to Information

Because knowledge creates empowerment.

Rights only become meaningful when people know they exist and understand how to exercise them.

Why Constitutional Literacy.

I believe that while rights exist for everyone, many people are unable to fully exercise or protect those rights because legal information is often complex, technical, or presented in ways that feel inaccessible. My goal is to bridge the gap between information and understanding, because access to knowledge is one of the most powerful forms of empowerment.

Proactive, Not Reactive.

More importantly, I believe we need to become proactive rather than reactive. Understanding our rights before they are violated allows us to recognise harm, advocate for ourselves, and support others with confidence.

My Vision.

For me, this advocacy is not simply about teaching the Constitution. It is about giving people the language to understand their experiences, trust their instincts, and recognise when their dignity, equality, safety, or autonomy has been compromised.

I want people to know that the Constitution is not just a document we study.

Sometimes, it is the vocabulary we need to understand our own humanity.
