What is the difference between a feature team and an empowered product team?

A feature team is a type of development team structure where the team is responsible for developing a specific feature or set of features of the product. The team usually includes cross-functional members with all the skills necessary to design, implement, test, and deliver the feature.

On the other hand, an empowered product team not only has the responsibility to develop certain features, but also has the authority to make decisions about what features to develop and how to develop them. They are typically cross-functional and include members with skills in product management, design, and engineering. They have a deep understanding of the customer needs and business goals, and they use this understanding to make product decisions. They also have the ability to test their assumptions and learn from their mistakes. In other words, while feature teams are focused on delivering specific features, empowered product teams have a broader focus on delivering value to the customer and the business. They are not just executing on a roadmap, but are also involved in defining the roadmap.
