BAPEDI BA RE MADUME GA FELE!

DUMELANG. THOBELA. KEA LOTSHA.

I am Ntsoakie Precious Mogotlane, a proud third year student pursuing a degree in Public Management and Governance, and you are not here by mistake.  You are here because you believe that before we can empower others, we must first heal our own stories. My favourite colour is pink and I advocate for HER (Healing, Empowerment and Resilience), I’m not just an advocate for HER, I AM HER. I have walked the path from pain to purpose and now I dedicate my voice to ensure no student has to walk it alone. HER is my commitment to creating safe spaces, wellness drives, and bridge a gap between leadership and students. I believe that when we heal our scars, empower our minds, and build resilience in our spirits, We don’t just crown a QUEEN we unleash the unstoppable horizon for change in our communities.

From the girl on the rock to the woman in the UJFM studio. There was a time when rooms like these felt like they belonged to someone else. When walking into a radio studio, a boardroom, or a stage felt like stepping into a world I wasn't meant to enter. But here I am. Standing. Speaking. Taking up space. Not because I became perfect but because I decided that the girl on that rock deserved to see what she could become.

BOOTCAMP DIARIES

Bootcamp wasn't just about learning to walk in heels or perfecting our stage presence. It was about pushing past every voice that said, "you are not enough". It was about finding sisters and brothers in the middle of the chaos. This is where finalist become family. And this is where I knew "I belong here”. To the Miss UJ APK executive team. Thank you for the countless hours you have poured into organizing this journey, for the guidance you have given us, and for believing in the power of student leadership. Your work has not only shaped this competition but has also shaped us as individuals. I deeply appreciate the opportunity to stand here because of the foundation you have built. Thank you for your patience, your professionalism, and your heart for young horizons.

MY PEOPLE

Of course, you guys didn't think I'd speak only about myself because behind every woman standing on stage is a village that holds her up. These are the amazing people who remind me of who I am when I forget. They celebrate my wins and hold my hand through losses. Everything I do, I do for them. And for that little girl on that rock who just wanted to make them proud.

MY KIND OF THERAPY

I lose myself in the pages of a good book. I find myself in the quiet moments with my bible. Notes scribbled, prayers whispered and faith strengthened. I pour love into every meal I cook. And when words fail, music heals. My favorite sport is Netball. These are the pieces of me that no stage, no crown, and no title can define. This is the soul behind the sash.

SERVICE AND COMMUNITY

For me, pageantry is not about a crown. It's about what you do with the platform. That's why I poured my heart into HER pad drive at my residence, because no girl should miss school or feel less than because of something as natural as her period. And the Pyjama Party? That was an event I hosted sponsored by my lovely residence management at Gateway Student Accommodation to create safe spaces for sisterhood, laughter, and reminding each other that we are in this together. Community engagement isn't a checkbox for me, it's who I am, it's my why. It's the part of my story I am most proud of.

LEADER THEN. LEADER NOW.

Long before I stepped onto a pageant stage, I was learning what it meant to stand up for others. As class representative and Deputy President in high school, I discovered that leadership isn't about a title. It's about showing up, listening, and being the voice for those who feel unheard. Those badges aren't just memories, they are reminders of the leader I've always been and the one I'm still becoming.

This is not just a title for me. It is a chance to give back, to uplift my fellow students, and to show that our scars do not define us, our resilience does. I have walked through my own valleys, and I know what it feels like to need someone to say, "You are not alone." I want to be that someone.

I understand that this journey is bigger than just standing on a stage. It is about telling my story, from the Top 30 announcement, through the Top 10, Bootcamp Week, and every lesson I have learned along the way. These experiences have shaped me, and I want to share them so that others can see that growth is not always glamorous, but it is always worth it.

So l ask you to support me, vote for me, and walk with me. Not just for a crown, but for a cause. Let us build a campus where every student feels seen, heard, and empowered.

HER is not just a pageant advocacy, It is my promise to the students of the University of Johannesburg that I am a representative that will always show up and serve them.
