About Us

Midrand High School was established in 1993. The school was started through the efforts of a few energetic, effective people, with Brian Algie and Speedo Horn being the two who spearheaded the school.

The first principal of Midrand High School was Brian Algie.

Brian Algie, the founding principal, left a significant legacy at Midrand High School. He is fondly remembered as a blessing - the big Brian with the big voice and the big heart.

Midrand High School has celebrated several successes, including a high matric pass rate with more than 60% matric exemptions or Bachelors passes. This has resulted in the school being recognized as one of the 100 Circle of Excellence Schools of the Alan Gray Orbis Foundation.

Midrand High School offers its students many opportunities, such as the Global Young Leaders Conference in Washington and New York, bi-annual overseas tours, participation in the SA Reserve Bank Monetary Policy Committee Competition, the UN debating competition, and a formidable chess team.
