Terms – Hottest African AI Startups Voting
Last Updated: 22-06-2025
By participating in the "Acalytica’s Hottest Africa AI Startups" competition ("the Competition"), you agree to be bound by the terms set out below.
1. Overview
The Competition is a public-facing visibility and support campaign hosted by Acalytica to spotlight emerging AI startups across Africa. Each startup will have a dedicated page on the Acalytica platform to showcase their work and receive public votes of support.
2. Voting System
Voting is open to the public through each participating startup’s page hosted on https://acalytica.com/hottest-african-ai-startups-2025.
Each vote costs ZAR 20.00 (Twenty Rand). There is no limit on the number of votes an individual may cast.
Voting is intended as a form of public support and endorsement, not as a scientific or audited ranking.
3. Winner Selection Criteria
Winners will be determined using a blended scoring system based on both public voting and audience engagement:
70% of the final score will be determined by the number of paid votes a startup receives.
30% of the final score will be determined by the number of unique visits to the startup’s Acalytica page.
Acalytica uses internal web analytics to verify authenticity and exclude non-human traffic.
This combined approach ensures that winners are both community-backed and attract real market interest.
4. Revenue Sharing Model
Revenue generated from votes will be split as follows:
70% to the participating startup.
30% to Acalytica to cover platform, processing, and promotional costs.
For startups based in South Africa: Revenue will be paid directly into their South African bank accounts on a rolling basis.
For startups outside South Africa: Weekly payouts will be processed via a secure payment link or designated bank account, subject to standard international transfer timelines and currency conversion where applicable.
5. Startup Responsibilities
6. Platform and Intellectual Property
Acalytica does not claim ownership or IP rights over any startup ideas, branding, or submissions. By participating, startups grant Acalytica permission to publicly showcase their startup name, logo, pitch summary, and voting page for promotional purposes during the Competition period. All proprietary materials remain under the control and ownership of the startup.
